Spray painting will become the norm as water based paints become more prevelant, as it is quite difficult to obtain a quality finish on woodwork with water based paints using a brush due to poor levelling and a short open time(oil based paints were far more forgiving). Hybrid paints (such as johnstones aqua gloss) are gaining popularity for woodwork but once again are difficult to use due to a poor open time. an additive can be used to solve this but as this section is on spraying we will leave this subject to a future newsletter. if you need to know now, email me.

By spraying woodwork with a fine finish tip such as a rac x 2/10 or 3/11 there will only be the smallest ammount of spray mist. a far superior finish is obtained (you don’t see mercedes brushing their cars), at a far higher production rate. a larger tip would be used for emulsion work. Although spraying can’t be utilized in every situation, we know when it can be and big cost savings can be achieved. contact me to discuss whether you could benefit.
